[Cosima takes the box, clearly charmed, but her eyes widen when she opens it.]
Oh my god, Herian, this is beautiful.
[She takes it out so she can try it on, suspecting Herian did better at sizing that she's worried about. After all, it's doesn't have to fit any particular finger.]
( Herian's smile brightens, relief and delight mixing together. It's the sort of smile only Cosima tends to see from her, and she steps closer, one hand coming to rest at Cosima's waist as she holds the other out to hold the box, to make the trying on of the ring a little easier. )
It's enchanted. Whenever you have need of light, you just need to focus for a moment, and it should illuminate the space around you. I believe the trader said that between uses it needs to recharge in the light of the sun or the moons, but wearing it or leaving it on the windowsill should be sufficient.
( Herian appears almost sheepish, though she smiles into the kiss, and when Cosima thanks her, leans close to kiss her again. )
You're welcome. I hoped it might be useful when you are working. ( She understands how important Cosima's work and her science is to her, even if she has little grasp of the nuances of it. Very fondly she brushes Cosima's hair back, her other arm draped around Cosima's waist. )
And your gift was perfect. There is no need for such measures.
OK, OK, we're even then, [with a laugh.] So. I know you said it's my choice, but do you have, like, fancy dinner plans that are based on going out? Or staying in? I don't want to undo some grand gesture when I don't really care either way.
I do not have strict plans. I thought going out might be a nice cause to remove ourselves from the Gallows, for a time, and there is a tavern in Lowtown we've not yet visited.
( Franklin looks up at them both, and then unceremoniously lies across their feet, as much as possible. )
Aw, buddy, we'll totally come back afterward. [As if he'd voiced an objection.]
I never mind getting out of the Gallows a little. And I hear it's good to branch out. Keeps you from getting boring. [She grins.] If we go out, will you dance with me?
Boring people don't dance in public. Fact. [She presses a quick kiss to Herian's cheek.]
Let me just put a couple of things away first, and we can go.
[It is worth observing that since Avery's departure, Cosmia's room has become slowly but surely more chaotic. It's always clean, but considering how few possessions she has in Thedas, it's remarkable how spread out they have managed to become.]
He'll probably be more comfortable back at your place. [Not quite the same as minding just... practical.] I'll be ready by the time you go and come back, promise.
And your belongings are less likely to be turned into some sort of canine nesting area.
( This doggo. He's currently, by the way, licking Cosima's shoes.
Herian makes a quiet sound of amusement, and presses a lingering kiss to Cosima's cheek, before drawing way, trailing her hand down her arm so that she can gently squeeze Cosima's hand before bending down to scoop up Franklin. They'll go faster if she carries him. )
I'll not be long. ( And off she goes. Sure enough, she won't take too long. )

I love it, it's gorgeous.

[Cosima is delighted, transparently.]
That's amazing, and now I feel like I am gonna have to step up my gift game the next time it's a gift-giving occasion.
[Once it's on her finger, she turns to kiss Herian soundly.]
Thank you. It's wonderful.

Think you that I am at risk of becoming boring? ( Aghast, but not really. ) I would consider it.

( Herian's room, by contrast, remains pristine, a necessity learned from Circle life and reinforced by having sparse possessions. )
I will see Franklin to my quarters and return - unless you are happy for him to remain hence?
