I know what my strengths are. Easier to make people better at what they're already good at, usually. The shield generated out of the anchor shard does help, though.

To be clear, the anchor shield is nice, but that's not why. Like, given the choice between a cool magical shield and eliminating the possibility of blinking out of existence without warning, it's not that cool a shield.
Some of our department have a bent for engineering and invention. Stark did, too, so he fostered that, and there are some interesting prototypes that we could get testing.
For me ... I'm a biologist, and I've been working a lot on how rifts and the Fade affect plants and animals. We've made some interesting strides, and I'm hoping we can make more, especially now that we have a reasonably reliable way to know where rifts are going to pop up.
